Launched in 2012
Ampere (previously named Pinnguaq, which is the Inuktitut for “Play”) originated as a youth club in Nunavut that sought to provide culturally relevant coding and computer science resources for Inuit and Nunavummiut.
Pinnguaq Foundation Formed
Pinnguaq Foundation was formed to independently raise funds to help remove barriers to opportunity in rural, remote and Indigenous communities through STEAM education in every place, at every stage of life. Pinnguaq Foundation sets a mission and vision to support key partners like Ampere that advance STEAM education in equity-seeking communities.
Supports
The Pinnguaq Foundation is proud to work with rural, remote, Northern, and Indigenous communities and partners across Canada with projects funded in Nunavut, Northwest Territories, and Ontario so far in 2024. Thanks to incredible donors, Pinnguaq Foundation supported those in the most hard to reach areas, working toward more equal access and opportunity to STEAM education.
